I agree! The compounds can keep there fancy stuff, the word release shouldn't be in the same sentence as Traditional bows!

These all pre-date the compound by as much as 18 years. If we classify anything that was around before compounds as 'traditional' then releases do qualify. And sights, stabilizers, mechanical broadheads...... Just thought I'd bust open a fresh can o' worms this morning. ;)

There's reasons they are not the norm with Traditional bows, most don't believe in them shooting Traditional! Personally I didn't and still don't believe in them for shooting compound but whatever rocks your boat I guess. Maybe I'm just too old fashion for my own good, been told that a few times!;)

It sure looks to me like if you were shooting a heavy draw weight, the centrifugal force would spin that thing around and slam it into your ring finger knuckle. Looks like it'd be painful.

You can't beat the B/W tab for smoothness. If I could get a good anchor I'd still have one.Nice collector items AP. I've never seen one of them.

Cool pics Art! I tried a "back tension" release aid on an 82# longbow....once...dang near killed myself with that thing (the release aid, not the longbow). If my fingers every quit, can't say I won't try one (minus the back tension part) to keep shooting, but for now I'll pass.

Bit the bullet yesterday and put some serious effort into a tab. I'd tried before, with several different types of tabs, just couldn't get the hang of it, even thoush I used a tab when I shot a compound.

Reckon I just hadn't tried the right one. A friend of mine who shoots with a tab (and is an IBO world champion) gave me one of his spare Cavalier tabs. I never would have tried it otherwise, because the dang things cost $30...but after a little while I was really liking it. I've been a glove shooter for the past 15 years or so, but I may be converting to a tab.

Took some tinkering--tried it with the finger spacer first, then without--like it better without. Unless I loose it, shouldn't need a new one for years--the cordovan face is tough, and seems to get better with use. I know my favorite glove (Superglove with cordovan) never wears out where the string makes contact--the glove wears out, but the tips could be used again.

Anyhow, I've been reluctant to try a tab again, after the money I've spent on ones that didn't work for me--but I'm really liking this one.

Only one I've actually tried myselfis the bow-lock. I whittled one out of a piece of scrapwood about 10 years ago. Works great and you can't beat the cost. FREE - except for about an hour's worth of work.:D
