Customizing arrow question
 

Alright, now that the season is over, I am just going to play around with construction and practicing. Up until now, I haven't really done anything too fancy but I want to try for something different.

Just to get through the practicing period, I have been buying practice arrows from my local shop and just stripping them down and finishing them with a polycrilic and the feathers I like. I am wanting to buy some POC's and start putting a crest of my liking on them. The most readily available arrows are the POC in Cabela's that are already stained and sealed. My question is are they okay to crest and feather since they have already been finished and what should I finish them, or recoat them with after I crest them? I am looking for a finish that I can remove the feathers from without ripping the crest and finish off the arrow. What would work?

Just buy some raw shafts and build them instead of redoing a finished shaft.Here's a few links to some suppliers:

I would be very careful where you buy shafting from. Unles it specifically states that it's weight matched, it's not. What you'll end up with is a dozen shafts that might vary 100+ grains in weight. Absolutely worthless IMO.

JRW is right. Why build junk? Pay up for premium supplies and take your time. I prefer my home made arrows to most
(not all) "storeboughts"

if you dont want to ruin your caps and cresting fletch tape is the way to go bar none!!!
