Accessory Limb Possibility

Hey guys, been a while since I put a question or a reply up but I have been busy slingin' arrows trying to get ready for next season!

To give a little info to the purpose of the question, I have a, I believe, Martin Hatfield/Hunter (can't remember which, purchased used) Takedown. Specs are 62" and 47lbs@28". I know this is sufficient for the deer that I didn't see this year and the turkey that are still a month away, but a buddy and I are planning on taking a Do-It-Yourself elk hunt/vacation next season and I know that a 47lb curve, IMO, isn't too reliable for a big bull. My question is this: can I purchase 1 or 2 new sets of limbs for my bow in 55lbs and 65lbs for the larger critters? I am aware that I may have to send my bow back to ensure fitting but would this be a reasonable request within a reasonable time frame? Thanks for you time gents.

I'm headed the same direction, only I'm gonna start this year. You must have a Hatfield if it's a takedown, but even if you can get more limbs for it, it'll probably cost as much as a good used bow. Try http://www.women-outdoors.com/traditional/bowyers1.htm . I found one I was interested in and the guy sent it to me to try out before I bought it. There's some really good bows on that list for very reasonable prices.
I prefer a heavier bow for deer than many use. I feel it gives me more range, and I definitely believe an elk deserves a profound whack. Just check out what the rifle hunters say it takes to put one down. I like that; hunt/vacation.
