Martin has been making good recurves for a long time. You'd be well served with a Martin.

That site seems overpriced. Most of their trad bows I see on there are $50 or more than other places. Heck, their Hunter and X-200 are $80 more than everywhere else.

Thanks David, I will for sure shop around. I do believe my local archery shop carries Martin.
I am going over there friday and will keep you all posted.

They've got the X-200 for $297.95 at KustomKing.

Or you could go to recurves.com and order a basicChekMate Falcon or Kings Pawnfor $265. Don't know what the turnaround is right now, but I'm sure Chad could tell you. I've been shooting a Kings Pawn for several years now - I guess 5 years, come to think of it -and it's a darn good bow.

I also have a King's Pawn, fully loaded. I think I paid under $300 for it.

I hunted with a martin for years, until I ran over it two years ago. It was a very good shooting bow.

My advise is to see if you can try some bows out. Martin makes fine bows but you may not like the feel of it. I'd suggest getting a lower priced used bow and shooting a while to have something to compair to when you get a nicer one. Older Bear bows go for good prices. I have bought several for under or around 100 and they are good shooting bows. In fact my first recurve was a Bear Grizzly I paid $30 for at a salvation army store. Came with a quiver and arrows too. I still have it though I promissed it to a friend recently.
If you can shoot as many different bows as you can.

Just my thoughts.

Great advice Jason thank you. This Friday I will be going to my trusty bow shop and see what he has
and if possible shoot a few. I decided I will try to shoot both long and recurve bows to see what I like.

I have been fairly loyal to martin for a few years. I have a savannah longbow and a dreamcatcher. But I would look at a chek mate. Best value for the price. I liked the kings pawn over my dreamcatcher.

I really liked shooting black widow longbows especially iron wood.

RE: Ok will this recurve work?

I can't say enough good things about my Martin Hunter. I love to shoot it. I use it for bowfishing but have recently switched to a Martin Mamba. I traded a Martin longbow to get the Hunter and have a X-200 for my daughter. Every one of the Martin bows I've owned has shot exceptionally well.
That being said, there are many many fine bows out there these days. Try as many as you can. If your like me and just really enjoy shooting, you'll enjoy most of them.

Good Luck! and Merry Christmas.
