Hunting boots for big feet
I have size 10 EEEE feet. Any idea where I can find some good insulated hunting boots that may actually fit?
I'm currently wearing a pair of Rocky's that are only EE. Even with thin socks, it's a tight squeeze and my feet end up getting cold despite the 800 grams of thinsulate due to poor circulation. |
RE: Hunting boots for big feet
Muck boots--think they have an "extreme" version for really cold weather. I've been wearing the "Woody" for several years. I wear a 14EEEE sneaker, and they fit great--really nice for wide feet.

I wear 12 EEEE and I buy them at Bass Pro Shops.

RE: Hunting boots for big feet
You've got trash can lids for feet! [:-] On the other hand, I've got a pair of skis. I wear 15AA and NOBODY makes hunting boots that size. I've got a couple pairs of custom made Nocona cowboy boots, but no hunting boots. I'll trade ya some length for some of that width.;)
Have you tried Red Wing? |
RE: Hunting boots for big feet
i have a 12eeee foot and i only wear georgia boots, i have a pair of georgia ice trekkers that are 2000 gram insulated they cost a pretty penny 250.00 but it is worth my fett staying dry and toasty warm.

Thanks Fellas :)
Art, I kinda like the wide lids, makes things nice and stable. I'll swap you some short arm for long arm though ;) |

Muck Boots™ are made to standard widths but the materials will stretch comfortably to fit widths up to a EEEE.
Without your input I would have passed on them without looking back, but I trust what you say. Do they really stretch that easily? Do they stay stretched, or go back to their smaller width each time you take them off? How hard are they to get on and off? Having wide feet and a high arch, I've always shied away from non-lace up boots, just a struggle I never wanted to deal with. How heavy a sock do you wear with yours? They have a version that is for colder weather plus has a anti-microbial and deoderant treatment that looks interesting. I've bought much more expensive boots that didn't fit before, if these would fit, they look to be just what the Dr. ordered... Thanks :) |
RE: Hunting boots for big feet
The ones I have stretch really easily, but are very tough--I've had mine for.....5 years now, I think. I was a skeptic myself, until a good friend got a pair and I tried his. My brother is even worse than me, and after I talked about mine so much he got a pair--now you'd think he worked for Muck he talkes about his so much. All of us have really big/wide feet.
Super easy to get on and off, and have decent ankle support. I could never wear LaCrosse because of the really tight ankle--if I ever got it on, couldn't get it back off. The tops roll down on the Muck, but when you roll it up it's a nice snug fit. These are the first (and only) rubber boots I've been able to wear since I was a kid. I've tried umpteen different hunting boots, even tried to order a pair from Russel Moccasin (they didn't know if they could make them wide enough), and these are the absoulte best. I normally don't wear a thick sock, but I can, no problem. My brother has a problem with cold feet, and he got the more insulated ones (Woody Max?). I have the regular Woody--not sure they make it any more, but have one very similar (least insulated). If I ever wear these out, I'll buy another pair in a heartbeat. Chad |

Thanks, very helpful.

RE: Hunting boots for big feet
I wear 15EEEE and have the same problem. I just have to keep my eyes open where ever I go and jump on the oportunity when I find it. No place can I count on to consistantly have something.

RE: Hunting boots for big feet
I just got my Muckboot Wooody elites in size 15 and they rock. I wear a 15 EEEE and the width is perfect.

If they are, I'll quit worrying :) |
RE: Hunting boots for big feet
I have no idea, but I'll check when I get back to the house (I'm in my shop). I know my feet are really wide, as are my buddie's (who introduced them to me) and my brothers. My brother also wears a 14EEEE, and he wears the Woody Max.
Around here you'll find them at stores that carry good hunting boots. I don't think stores like Cabela's has them, but farm supply/feed stores do. Muck also makes some great shoes and boots for barn work. Chad |
RE: Hunting boots for big feet
I emailed them again with a link to the sizing info on a site I was hoping to get them from, and it showed they'll stretch comfortably to 4E. I asked if this info was wrong, and he replied no it wasn't, he was just hesitant to potentially mislead someone with really wide feet :)
I'd really appreciate it if you could check yours. Would help me fell much much better. Thanks! :) |
RE: Hunting boots for big feet
Another vote for the Muckboot
mine are Wetland model... |

ORIGINAL: Ken Catch I just got my Muckboot Wooody elites in size 15 and they rock. I wear a 15 EEEE and the width is perfect. Any problems with thick socks and your same as mine width foot? Do the elites keep you warm on stand for long periods of time? |

RE: Hunting boots for big feet
I'm usually wearing a 15 EEEE, with the muck I was comfortable wearing a liner and med-heavy smartwool down to 20 deg with -5 windchill on the ground. In the stand I'd go to a packboot. My feet run hot and perspire a lot. I always put them on the boot dryer at night.

RE: Hunting boots for big feet
Damn, you got big feet, Chad !!!
Exact same size as me. ![]() I believe, the Maine boot co ( think the name's correct ) can make some custom sizes for ski sizedfeet but they cost big bucks. Sag. |
RE: Hunting boots for big feet
Hey--I put in long hours! Honestly I flat forgot[&o].........they are labeled as 14-14.5 (US size). No problem with thick socks (I do have a problem finding thick socks that fit though).

RE: Hunting boots for big feet
A while back I bought a pair of muck boots, the woody elites. To keep them as scent free as possible, I didn't plan to wear them until I started hunting.
First day out with them, with thin cotton athletic socks (liner socks weren't in my tote like I thought), they squeezed the crap out of my foot right ahead of the ankle, in the ankle fit part. Next day with liner socks only, same thing. Hurt so bad I had to slip them partially off when in stand to relieve the pressure both days. Not good. My foot gets to 4E pretty much right past my heel. This is the area where the boot rubber feels pretty stiff, which I guess is to make them "ankle fit" to prevent slippage. Is there any hope that these will stretch out over time, or am I screwed? Thanks. |
