how cold is to cold for my recurve(n.ontario)
I started in february on nice days & still need to practice this winter. Is there any safe guidelines of some sort ?
I know the carbon arrows are tough --- they ended upunder the packed snowmachine trail a few too many times ( after missing my round straw bail target ) ha ha !!!! It's the varnish or clear coat that I think might crack ! |
RE: how cold is to cold for my recurve(n.ontario)
An archery shop owner told me, along time ago, -10 deg F. was the point where the resin would start cracking in a laminated bow. I've hunted in -5 deg F with no problem with the bow. Just harder to pull back.

I've never had a problem shooting or hunting with my recurve in -30 below temps. However i'm not saying something bad won't happen.

When I lived in MontanaI hunted in -15 to -30 degree weather quite often and never had a problem with any bow. I would be surprised if there's anybody making a bow today that will come apart due to weather. I'm sure there's the rare case in anything.
