Wood Arrows?
I've been shooting woods for a couple of years now, and I like them a lot. Port Orford Cedar has been my choice so far, but I am looking for some more arrow weight. Just looking for suggestions on a heavy arrow that is durable and stays as straight as cedar.
Thanks a lot |

Thanks Arthur,
Anyone tried laminated birch or poplar, or have any experience with heavier wood arrows? |
RE: Wood Arrows?
You'll find some woods that are tougher than POC, but I've yet to find one that is tougher and stays as straight.
I've tried fir, spruce, maple, ash, pine/chundoo, and some laminated shafting--always went back to POC. I haven't tried any laminated shafts lately, but here's the problems I saw with them. If they aren't straight when they are glued up, good luck at getting them to stay straight--you have different grains pulling in different directions. Second, it used to be that the spine on the laminated shafts changed depending on which way your had it turned--again, different pieces of wood. Dunno if that has been fixed or not. You might talk to Tom at Raven Arrows, or Paul at Elite Arrows, and see if they can put you together some heavier POC's. I know that some are considerably heavier than others--RRA used to do that for folks. Chad |

Thanks Chad,
When I decide to buy, I'll definitely talk to one of those two. |
RE: Wood Arrows?
I love POC. But I am about ready to give up on them. Out of a dozen from 3rivers, I can find 6 that has good flight. Rest, have spines too heavy or light. And out of the 6, some have started to change spine wise from being shot.
So I would hope you can post it when you find out about lam birch and others. |
RE: Wood Arrows?
I've used arrowsbykelly and went with the sitka spruce. I was very happy with the result-great arrows and Kelly had great customer service. Just my 2 pfennig

RE: Wood Arrows?
BC, try the two dealers I mentioned--Raven for shafts (don't think they offer finished arrows), or Elite Arrows for finished arrows.
