Darryl: You've got my attention now with your trick using a drill as a crester. The chuck you bought from 3Rviers, it will fit inside the chuck of your drill? I usually never do any cresting just do to the fact I could never convince myself that spending 100$ on a crester would be worth it. I just stain my crown with aniline dye and let it bleed into the main arrow shaft stain, quick and looks nice. I think I'll definitely give your drill/crest trick a try though. Thanks.

Brian,

The crester chuck fits on a shaft. I think it is about 3/8". I don't remember. But all you have to do is go to the lumber yard and purchase a bolt, (~2" long), the diameter of the required shaft. Cut off the bolt head, file a flat spot on the bolt. The crester has a set screw and the bolt then is chucked up in the drill.
