Question???

I have been shooting my bow consistently for the past year or so and have progressively gotten better. I have ran into a problem......the last 2 weeks or so my shooting has began to worsen and I am losing a lot of confidence. I am consistently shooting about 6-10 inches high anywhere from 5-25 yards.Another thing, my arrow flight has started to be erratic, most of the time the nock will kick up straight out of the bow. I am not sure what could be causing this.

Maybe my nock has moved?? I have a tied on nock above and below my nocking point. It does seem that the space has broadened slightly where my arrowgoes onto the string in between the nocks, but nothing serious.

Maybe it's my form or release??? I don't know, everything seems to be the same as it always has. I have worked and worked and can't figure it out, it is starting to wear on me.

What causes the nock to to kick up after the release??? Would it be a low nocking point or high nocking point??

The worst thing about all of this, my trad only draw hunt is coming up on the 26th of October. I sure hope I can iron this all out before then. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Question???

A bow square will tell you right away if your nock point has moved... and I'd bet the farm it has. Judging from the description of your problem, I'd guess it's slid down, causing the arrow to shoot high and to make the nock end hit the shelf and bounce upwards.

If you don't have a bow square, then get one. It's one of those pieces of basic equipment every bowhunter should have handy.

RE: Question???

It sounds like pressure/anxiety to me. Don't know how much you are practicing, but maybe take a few moments between shots.

RE: Question???

1st thing is to check the bows brace height then nock height. Nock kicking up usually indicates high nocking point. But, if it is too low the fletchings will bounce off the shelf and kick high. A string will stretch and lower the bows brace height which causes the nock to shift high. Twist the string and see if the arrow flight improves. If not, you're working it too hard. Relax, take one shot at a time. Think about your form and shoot at 5 yards.

RE: Question???

have you been taking or have taken your string off the bow to store it. If you have, maybe the string has twised either tighter or loosen from what you have been shooting.
