carbonwood vapor arrows, are these.......
 

are these arrows to light for hunting. My brother recently purchased a Samick Predator Recurve 55# @ 28". His draw is 30 so I figure he should be pulling around 60#'s. We figured it out tonight that he would have a finished arrow weight including 125 grain broadhead of roughly 450 grains. Is this going to be too light for hunting purposes? Also is there any way to make these arrows heavier, ie weight tubes or heavier inserts ? Thanks for the responses.

Arrow weight is borderline, in my opinion. Not for penetration--if the arrow is flying straight and has a sharp broadhead, it should blow through any whitetail on the planet--but it will noisier than a heavier arrow, and might be a little hard on the bow.

I've seen umpteen ways to weight carbon arrows, but I don't shoot carbon and have never weighted one, so I can't say what works and what doesn't--sorry.

You're a half a hair over 8 grains/pound with a 30" draw. Sholdn't be a problem, but you never know. When in doubt, bump the weight up a touch.

Actually 7.5 grains per lb if he is pulling 60#.......

I've got a Samick Explorer that I've been using to experiment with carbons for the past couple of years. Mine weigh out around 440 grains and I'm pulling 50 pounds on it. Shouldn't have been too light, but the bottom limb cracked on the bow yesterday. I can't say for sure if the carbons had anything to do with it, but it's the first bought-new recurve I've ever broken in 48 years of shooting and it's the only recurve I've ever regularly shot carbon with.
