Default Great Lakes Longbow Invitational 2003

Just to let you guys know that the GLLI in Michigan has moved to a new place and date. The new place is 330 acres with an active Muskie fishing lake thrown in with it. Charlton Park (not far from Lansing Michigan) is the new place and the dates have moved from the middle of July which was the same date as the Appalacian Trad Rendevous in WV to August 8,9 and 10. Now I can plan on going to both this summer. If you take a moment to look at the site at www.charltonpark.org you will see that this is a vacation hideaway with plenty to do for the whole family while you shoot to your hearts content. You may also want to search out the Michigan Longbow Association website to find out more also. Hope to see some of you either there or West Virginia which is another favorite of mine.

Thanks for the info. CB--although I have added a few shoots to my agenda for this summer, I am afraid that one is still out of my reach--maybe in the next year or three!

I do plan on making my first trip to Cloverdale this year, and the Texas State Longbow Championship--have you been to either of these?

Not yet but I would go to all of them if my wife and boss would let me. I know where the Texas State Longbow shoot is but where is Cloverdale? I've hear that name come up alot so it must be a good one. Oh by the way the GLLI shoot I jumped the gun on while it is settled as the place we are moving on we have not signed any contracts yet. I'm on the MLA Council and I should know better than announce it as fact with out a legal document but unless some unknown gremlin jumps up that is the place and time we are working for. I am just a little excited about being involved in this big event so at this point just think of it as insider information that leaked out via none other than yours truly.

Cloverdale is in Indiana--Southern Indiana, I believe? I am waiting on information on the shoot, will try to remember to post more about it when I get it. From what I have been told, it's a big shoot, and a very good one.

Hope the new location works out for you--also hope I get to check it out in person before too long!

Cloverdale is a half a spit outside of Indianapolis.

Thanks Chessbum I will try and make that one as long as "Uncle G. Bush" doesn't send me to the ashtray again. By the way where is Charlton Park? I grew up in the Lansing area and I have not heard of that town, which isn't saying much as my hometown is a postage stamp itself.

Have a blessed day.

Towerrat somewhere south west of Lansing between Nashville and Hastings. Take a moment to click on www.Charltonpark.org and see all the neat things it has to do. I got to stop pushing this site until the final contract is signed. I sure hope we get it like planned because it is perfect for a big shoot. I origninally wanted a ski lodge that we could move to since they have showers etc. but when I saw this place I knew we had to get it. Putting these events on is alot of work I have found out. Most shoots you go to walk around shoot and leave but ones like this and the other big ones you live there for four days and be ready for anything that can go wrong to happen. Since I work umpteen hours at my real job there are about 12 others that do alot more work than I do getting this all together and it can be stressful. If your hooked on shooting longbows and wood arrows it is all worth it when the weekend comes and everyone is talking bows, shooting and just having more fun than a person can experience. If anyone is going to be at the Kalamazoo Expo we will have the final word by then I'm told. I'd like to visit Cloverdale once.

I could actually make this one. Its not too far from the Soo. I think Texas would be a little out of the question though. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Are their many recurve shooters that attend? How about vendors? I am in the stages of planning a summer vacation weekend with the family and I could use some more info.. Thanks
