New TBM, hummm!
 

I was a bit disappointed in the new TBM. Seems there are a lot of we shot ,he shot and they shot articles. I wish they would pick up some of the writers and articles
from the old IA mag. I sure do miss the how to and history pieces they used to run.
The segments from the European shooters whether history or just news from their side of the water were always worth reading.
At least I got a couple of back issues for my left over sub.

by "IA" I assume you mean Instinctive Archer? It was indeed a good magazine. I think the reason this issue of TBM is so very different is that they are experimenting with format. I, personally liked the last issue best of all--the one with the large small game section--but I'm sure lots of guys thought it was a waste of space.
I'd like to see a return of the old "Sylvan Archer", but I suppose it will never happen

unreal CT, I am usually the last to get it! Mine usually comes almost the same time they make newstands. For some reason this one was early.

Bodkin, in general they have been going downhill. There are however other mags out there to keep the disease at a managble level <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>!

I never read IA, or Recurves & Longbows. From what I heard, they had good material in them. Remember though that while they folded, TBM is still the #2 selling bowhunting magazine around, next to Bowhunter.

While I can understand folks wanting them to resemble their old favorite magazine, I think they would do well not to follow the same path as those who are no longer in business.

JRW I totally agree with you.I would hate to see TBH fold,but isnt
nostalgia a great part of archery and reading about archery. I have read every issue of YSA and to see how archery and bowhunting evolved over those early years is great.

I kind of like what TBM has been doing. They have had good do-it-yourself articles in the last few issues. They have been doing a few too many of the &quot;Safari&quot; type articles for my taste, but I especially liked the recent nostalgic articles, such as the &quot;Saxton Pope Bow&quot;, hunting historic lands, Fred Bear's Dleta hunts, etc.

Recurves and Longbows was a good publication and I was sorry to see it fold. I am sure there is room for other traditional publications. Anyone enterprising want to give it a shot?
