Need some schoolin' from the pro's.
Okay, it is time to school me in lore information. What is the difference between a flemish and continuous loop string? I know what continuous loop means but what is a flemish?
"The only dumb question is the one unasked" My drill sergeant used to say that as I was pushing Alabama a few more inches into the earth when I assumed something.<img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle> |

Well, I ain't a pro by any stretch of the imagination, but I think I can handle this one. I'm actually not sure where the term "Flemish" came from, but the string is made up of individual strands all twisted together. Most consist of two or three bundles, which are twisted and counter-twisted to form the loops. It works like the old Chinese finger traps we used to get at the fair when we were kids--the more you pull on it, the tighter it gets, although there is not a braid or knot in it. Finished product (with two colors anyway) looks kinda like a barber pole--the "Z-twist" compound string looks like an offshoot of a Flemish.
Hope this helps! Chad Long Bows Rule! |
