Broadheads????
I'm shooting 2016's out of my 50LB FB Montana.
Can I assume I can use the same weight BH as FP I'm using, now......and ultimately hunt with the same arrow I'm using now? I know this sounds elementary.....but I'm serious. I shoot 125gr FP's.....and the BH's I use for my compound are 125gr. Can I just use one of them to hunt with (when I become proficient enough with the longbow)? Thanks for your help. |
RE: Broadheads????
You have to see if they fly good for you. If they fly good, shoot em. I like 2 blade cut on contact, and thats fairly standard in traditional I see.

RE: Broadheads????
Do they make those that screw into "regular" inserts?

RE: Broadheads????
Yes, try using the same weight first. And yes, try using the same arrow. You'll probably find traditional equipement is much more tolerant then a compound.
You can use adapters to match heads like zwickey which are made for a tapered wooded shaft with your aluminum arrows. Only problem is that they'll add a bunch of weight. I believe you can get a coc by magnus with the adapters already installed in 125 grain. My problem with them though is that the adapter is rather small and weak compared to the regular long adapter. Personally, I'd look to stingers or phantoms. |
RE: Broadheads????
I use 125gr Magnus 2 blade COC broadheads. I think COCs are the way to go for better penetration. I thought about using the Muzzy's I shoot from my compound and decided against it after hearing most guys on here recommend the COC heads.
