New Crow Creek Black Feather Longbow
I've had my Crow creek Black Feather longbow for about a week now. It is a sweet shooting T/D longbow. It's 62", 51#@28" and has a Cocobolo/Rosewood Dymondwood and Bocote riser and Bamboo limbs with a reddish stain on them. Below are a couple of pics of the bow.

Very nice, congratulations!

Elmer makes a really nice bow--they look a lot like Roy Hall's to me (another fine bowyer). If I liked a heavy risered longbow, that one would be on my short list.

Nice bow! What kinds of woods are on that bow? Congratulations.

ORIGINAL: EnglishHope Nice bow! What kinds of woods are on that bow? Congratulations. The riser woods are Cocobolo Dymondwood and Bocote and the limbs are Bamboo stained a reddish color. I say Cocobolo Dymondwood because I've had big risered bows with Cocobolo/Bocote and they are not as heavy as this one. The only material I've had in a bow that gets this kind of weight is Dymondwood. Chad, I like the heavy riser as it makes for a very stable shooting bow. Comparing Elmer's work to Royal Hall's is quite a compliment for Elmer, or for Roy depending upon ones perspective. Bill |
RE: New Crow Creek Black Feather Longbow
I don't mind a heavy riser on a recurve, but it just doesn't suit me on a longbow. My first custom was one of Roy's--a great bow, I just never could get accustomed to the riser. I do like a heavy riser wood, but in a small riser (on a longbow at least).
I meant the comparison as acompliment to both! lol Both make a beautiful bow and really good shooters. Chad |
