target panic?

I keep encountering the term "target panic". What exactly is target panic, how does it develop and how do you know if you have it? I know this is probably a dumb question, but I'm still new to archery. Thanks.

RE: target panic?

I've known a lot of guys that claimed to have 'target panic' when they were just trying to shoot way too much draw weight. As I got older and the injuries started accumulating, it got to the point where I couldn't hit anchor and the arrow starting leaving the bow before I was ready to shoot. So, I fell into that kind of thinking. Dropped down 10-15 pounds in draw weight and the target panic disappeared.

There are many different shooting problems that manage to get stacked under the target panic umbrella, and most of 'em have to do with compounds, sights and mechanical releases.
