making progress BUT

I'm making progress with shooting my recurve BUT. Im begining to shot groups at 10 yards but the groups are alittle high and to the left of the bullseye. (about 6" left and 6" high) I cant the bow alittle and some say I'm a snap shooter. BUT it works! any ideas about what Im doing wrong? Im loving this its such a challange.

If you're snap shooting and you're hitting high and left-it's doesn't work.Try coming to a solid anchor, hold for a second or 2,then release and see where you're hitting. If you're still hitting high & left, either you're arrow is too stiff or you're you're dropping your arm after you release,or the nock is too tight on the string

How do you make the nock fit the string better if it's too tight?

You can dip the nock in hot water-that'll soften the nock up.You can lightly sand the inside of the nock groove or you can put a thinner diameter serving on the string

You are high and left becuase of the shelf on the bow, give it time and you will adjust and group where you are looking, keep a steady rock solid form until the arrow is in the target!! Like Fred Asbell says if you are burning a hole in your target then it doesnt matter when you let go of the arrow!!!

I found an excellent training aid - Handi-tack . This is the playdoh like stuff that you might hang a poster with . I took a small amount and rolled it into a line . Stick this on the riser ( horizontaly ) , it will give you a reference point as to how high or low to hold the bow . Sight down the arrow for left and right . My groups are looking good enough now to hunt with ,,, and maybe buy a new bow . Oh , the tack won't leave a residue or marr any finishes .
