Help for a beginner (anyone with a used recurve)?

I've been shooting "modern" compound bows for 12 or 13 years and want to get into traditional shooting. While I mostly shoot a high tech hunting bow, I also been shooting instinctively with an old Browning compound for about 4 years. I am looking for a used recurve, prices can be up to around $350. My draw length is 27", but I'm growing so I can be a little flexible. Weights between 40 and 50 would be ideal. I just want something to play around with for now, to hunt small game, and possibly deer and turkeys in a few years. Thanks for your help in advance.

I suggest that you email LBR and order a brand new Chek-mate HunterII in 40-45lb range. Brand new you are still in your price range and you are goign to be hard pressed to find a better bow, even for twice that price. YOu could always get a second set of limbs at a later time if you build up your muscles and want a heavier set for big, by that I mean elk/moose, hunting. He might even have a few on hand that he could get to you quick. I really like my Hunter II, I have 60lb and 73lb limbs for mine, very pretty and great shooting bows.

I'll second what Josh posts...but also dont pass up the used market as from time to time you can get one heckuva deal! Bows in new to excellent shape for 200 bucks!

A Chek mate bow would be a great bow at a great price to start with. It will spoil you right away. Chad may also have a used Martin Hunter recurve he wants to sell.

I have a "T.D Hunter" 62" 43@28

This bow is new. It was a gift but I have 2 so I would part with this one. I was going to put it on the classified section for trade toward a Crusader.
I am not sure on the wood type but it appears to be elm and purple heart.
The other is "T.D. Hunter" 62" 51@28.

Hi Creek,

If PBB isn't interested in your Chek-mate, I may be. Send me an email with the particulars if it's still available.

Thanks.
