A good Bow

I want to know a good bow for a 17 year old, first time shooter. I just want some names of bows that might be good for someone around that age level. Im willing to spend 550 on just the bow, thats with out any sights and all that good stuff.

Well, your on a traditional archery page, so you don't have to worry about sights and all that good stuff, cause most of us don't have any of that. Most I have is beaver puff silencers and bear hair rug rest.

Personally, I wouldn't spend that much on a first bow. I'd look to get something decent used. Maybe try to attend one of the larger tradional shoots or visit a traditional archery store in your area and see what fits good. There is usually some decent used bows up for sale. See how he likes it first and then maybe get something better. Make sure you don't overbow him at first start with something light and move up gradually.
