nothing really, some trad shooters use alum some carbon and others like wood.
You dont want to shoot wood out of a compound(danger), but with trad you can shoot em all .

I remember something somewhere though that the arrow weight was heavier in per gram X bow poundage.

Most people don't shoot anywhere near the poundage with their traditional bows that they do with compounds. A 400 gn arrow on a 70 lb compound is 5.7 grains per pound. The same 400 gn arrow on a 50 pound recurve is 8 grains per pound. Same arrow weight, but it's heavier in relation to the draw weight.

You can shoot wood arrows from a compound, but most people don't due to the spine required and the mass weight of wood.

You can shoot the same arrows from either bow, but compound shooters generally go light in arrow weight, trad shooters generally go heavy. Plastic vanes don't work too well on most trad bows, and you don't want a real tight nock fit with a trad bow.

Not any more. Used to be a place over at Northwest Hwy and Kingsley, but he closed up shop several years back. T&Sons in Denton was a good place, but the O.T. passed away last year and they closed up too. The new Cabelas store over by Alliance Airport has some traditional stuff. I take a run over there when I have an emergency need for glue-on field tips, feathers or fletching tape.

Most everything else I buy online from Kustom King, Alaska Bowhunting Supply or 3 Rivers. Sometimes I get lucky and find what I need at Ebay.

I didn't know you were so close by. You oughta come visit Denton County Archers on Feb 18th, hang out and shoot some. We're having a Traditional Bowhunters of Texas shoot and it'd be a good chance for you to meet a bunch of stick flingers.
