Old Check-mate

Well, I found an old Check-mate target recurve on E-Bay. It's a metal riser take down. It has 2 markings that are a bit confussing. It states two different lengths and draw weights. 34# @ 28-68" and 36# @ 28" - 66". It has a different style of attaching the the limbs. It may be that it has an adjustable length? It's a dovetail in a keyway. It looks to have been is great shape till the seller sent it. (Unpacked via FedEx ground from Reno Nevada) It has a chip in the handle that I will try and retouch. Chad, can you find out what type of paint Check-Mate used? This one has a silver flake/ green. If anyone has any information on the bow as far as set up and sdjusting the length, please let me know. It should make a great bow for my Daughter. Dick

Sounds interesting. I wonder if the adjustable length was actually that another set of limbs came with the bow.

Make em sharp and shoot em straight, or leave em home.

Wahya,

The markings are on the limbs or should I say the same limb. I jsu can't figure out how to keep the limbs in tiller or adjustment if moved. The is a roll pin that stops the limb from traveling too far. I'm thinking that there must be a positive stop somewhere. Dick

Marc (aka Cujo, aka Pigdog, aka long-haired hippie-type bowyer) is out of town right now, but I will quiz him on it when he gets back. Actually was gonna' bid on that one myself, but forgot about it--lol.

Dick, are the markings: (34# @ 28-68" and 36# @ 28" - 66") on the riser or limbs? If on the limbs it could be that CM produced more than one length of riser, hence the different OAL & weights. If on the riser then I have no idea, & it will be very interesting to find out!

I have a similar Chek-Mate bow except the riser is white, there was a difference in the risers & the limbs were the same length.
My son shoots this bow & really enjoys it, but I found the grip to small for my hands.
It is a nice shooting bow though.
