Draw Length

I shoot a 31" draw on my hoyt cmpd bow with release. Shooting fingers with a recurve do you have any guess at what my draw length would be? Or should i just head down to the archery shop and get measured? I prob should and will, but just for general internet shopping purposes does anyone have a guess?

Thanks.

Most times yougo down 1 to 2"

Depending on your form, TGF is right. With a compound, shooting fingers, my draw length is 30". My recurve draw length is 29". I'd still have it measured before purchasing.

Getting measured will help, but your draw length is going to vary some depending on the grip style, your form, draw weight, etc. The little draw length measureing bows can be tricky, because they are so light you tend to stretch out a lot more--I can use the same anchor and draw them 2" further than what I draw my longbow. Draw length "formulas" are hit or miss--for some they are fairly accurate, for others they are way off. Finally, as you develop your shooting style, your draw length will probably change a good bit.

The good news is it shouldn't make much of a difference--drawing a trad bow 1" more or less than you expected is usually no big deal.

oh ok good, i was worried there for a bit, so you think i should go to a shop and try pulling back some bows between 28-30 and see what feels best?

I know that my form will most likely change a lot once i learn to properly shoot and get into it, but if an inch or two doesn't make much of a diff i think i would be ok???

RE: Draw Length

Theonly concern I can think of is if you went with a short bow that is borderline for your draw length--drawing an extra inch or so could mean you have some stack--otherwise, you should be fine.
