dan quillian

I seen the Dan Quillian's longbow kit on ebay today for about 70 bucks plus shipping. Has anyone tried one of these bows out. Looks like a pretty good deal if the bow shoots at all.

I haven't shot one of his but I've made my own that are similar. They're fun to shoot and accurate, but don't expect screaming fast arrow speeds. Also, I wouldn't go with a 68" hickory backed bow unless your draw length is 29" or less. If it's 30" or longer, you'd need a longer bow to keep from having excessive string follow.

i have one of those bows. i bought it back in 2003. a little work with a rasp and it's a decent shooter. you can finish it the way you want. like stated above it is not a real screamer but it is a good entry level/plinker. you will need to make a new string or at lease center serve that one. i have considered buying a heavier one so it's worth the money. you can call dan and talk with him.

Arrow cast is a funny thing though: Guys that only shoot 350 fps crossbows have an advantage over slower compounds, have an advantage over folks that shoot laminated longbows, have an advantage over hunters that shoot boardbows, have an advantage over dudes that throw darts with atlatls..... And all of them can kill with a well placed shot and good stalking skills.
