New wood arows.
I ordered my first dozen of wood arrows today. I don't have a digital camera so I can't post pics. I came across the gentleman who is making them for me on a another site. He does great work at a very reasonable price. I have been shooting XX78 2117's with good results, but I can't shake this urge to shoot wood shafts. If someone would bewilling to help me. I could e-mail pics of the arrows so a pic. could be posted here.
I am debating between Zwickey and Wensel Woodsman broadheads. I would really appreciate any advice. I would also like to hear any opinions on quality sharpeners for traditional broadheads. Thanks in advance for any help. |
RE: New wood arows.
There are many good broadheads which will do the job. Stay away from real cheap stuff with soft metal and poor quality control. Reject anything made in Siam.
I use Wensel Woodsman and they make a hole that is unreal. They also fly great. Nothing wrong with Zwickys either. Lots to choose from. |
RE: New wood arows.
I like magnus heads, but as missedagain said, there are a lot of good choices. I like to sharpen mine with a fine file.

RE: New wood arows.
Either one is a great broadhead if you can put a good edge on it. There's a technique to shapening WW's--think they give the details on the pack--takes practice, works great. Lots of different sharpeners and ways to sharpen 2-blade heads. I'm tinkering with a new sharpener that was just introduced at Denton Hill that I think is going to be great--gotta prove it to myself first before I can endorse it though.
On a side note, not all "cheap" broadheads are junk. Ribteks are comparatively cheap, and work great. Sharpen easily, hold an edge, and are tough. Chad |
RE: New wood arows.
Thanks for the replies guys. I think I have narrowed it down to the Woodsman's or the Zwickey's. I thought the two blade Zwickey's might be easier to sharpen. At any rate, I will try to post pics of the arrows when they are done.
