Trad bow care
What do you guys do about hunting in incliment weather? Does the bow need to stay dry? How about going in and out of cold weather? I know that will throw a musical instrument out of tune so I suspect it will affect a wooden bow as well. Do you just wipe down the bow when you get home or back to the vehicle? I assume you let it reach room temp before stowing in bag. Any other care instructions I should be aware of? Finish care, etc.

Hmm, I wonder this also. I was reading Bryon Ferganson and he said his bow changed total tune in various climates.
Even after shooting, I wonder what to put on the wood to protect. |
RE: Trad bow care
Unless you're hunting with a selfbow,I wouldn't worry too much about it.I've hunted in rain, snow, cold weather, hot weather and never noticed any changes in shooting characteristics. When hunting in adverse weather conditions it might be a good idea to check the brace hgt.,though--it may have an effect on the string.

I just wipe mine dry if its wet. I did notice if it is hot, dry, or cold , wet i still stink so I dont think weather has any affect on my shooting:D

RE: Trad bow care
I have never seen any difference. I've shot it between a temp range of probably 10 to 80 degrees. Nothing too extreme though. Most bows come with an expoxy or the like finish which is waterproof. If you get dings though you need to take care of them. Colorless nail paint works well. Other then that you can use Johnsons Paste Wax on the bow once in a while.
