RE: Bohning fletch tape???
I tried the tape not long ago, and i thought it was a pain in the arse myself. Bohning makes a product called "Fast Fletch" i liked, but you have to treat it just like super glue. you get too much on the feather and you glue the dad burn thing to your clamp prety easy. i started wiping my clamps down with a paste wax, and its a lot nicer when you ooops.i used super glue and it worked well with woodies and alluminum too, but was brittle when the cooler weather hit. i found they were poping loose on the xx75's after being in the field for awhile, even with a cloth protection cover......The fast fletch was much better....Our local pro shop swears by MPV glue.....Hey! I might be great glue if you have 3 days time to fletch a dozen arrows.....Sloooooooow process using that stuff....
Is there a trick i dont know using fletching tape? I threw the stuff over my shoulder after 3 arrows, and went back to glue..... Kirk |
RE: Bohning fletch tape???
I put the jig in a fixture to apply the tape, so I have both hands free. I can fletch faster and easier with tape.

RE: Bohning fletch tape???
Kirk, it takes a little practice, but once you "get it" I don't think you'll ever consider glue again. Just put the feather in the clamp, put the tape on, snip it, peel off the backing, and put it on the arrow; repeat.
It's not reccomended for vanes--never tried it on vanes myself--I was shooting feathers only long before fletch tape came out. Chad |
RE: Bohning fletch tape???
I'm on the other side of the tape issue. I can't say that I like it. Personally, I still like glue.
