Heads for toms?
 

Turkey season is coming up here in Iowa, but I've run into a dilemma in my gear setup. For deer I used a zwickey fixed blade on my cedar, but I'm afraid that will zip through a tom. Are there any stopper springs, or tips or products that work well for turkey?

This subject is like most subjects there are many sides to it. I have never turkey hunted before, so what I am telling is all passed on info. I am just like you, doing this for the first time with the bow. I use the same heads on aluminum shafts.

Some people say that it is better to use a head with a spring or rubber type stop (you can get both at 3Rivers), so that the arrow stays in. The arrow not passing threw the bird is good because it is thought to cause more damage and hinder flight. If I remember right Arthur P sugested this to me awhile back, and he realy knows his stuff, I hope he will chime in and give you some good info.

Some people say not to change your setup at all from what you use for deer. They claim that you want as much penitration as posible.

As you can see, like everything that has to do with sportsthere is no set way to do things, so you willjust have to find your way to do things.I am going to try and geta spring type stop for this spring, but if I cant I will still hunt.
