Why oh Why?

Do some days we just don't have it?

I've been shooting exceptionally well lately and was really excited about doing alot of shooting this weekend.. Finally had a Saturday without work..... Well, I got the old bow out and shot about 10 arrows working on form.... Right from the get go I knew something just didn't feel right..... Felt too stiff and not smooth at all...... My bow arm was unusually weak and shaky from the get go.....After my form work, I started shooting spots.... It was horrible... Spraying them all over the target....[:@]

Never could get a decent group together and I was missing BAD, like 8+ inches.... Can't figure it out.... The only thing out of the norm was I did spend a little over an hour push mowing my yard.. Maybe my arms were just too tired? I don't know, but it sure is discouraging:(

I have days like that also. I can usually get it down to one of two things. One: my mind is racing and I'm trying to hard or pushing myself to get things back together. Or two I am just too tired mentally or physically to concentrate. Either way, I have to take a step back before taking a step forward. Sometimes it just takes closing my eyes for one or two minutes and relaxing between shots, other times, it's just time to put it down for the day.

What I find equally amazing is how much differently I shoot the 3 bows I have........I can be absolutely drilling with one bow, set it down and pick up another and from the same distance proceed to do a random sampling of every section of the target.

I do know what you mean though about some days just not feeling "With it". [:'(]

One problem is I'm a tad over bowed... But, I'm trying to make myself get accustomed to shooting more weight.... Being slightly over bowed will definitely bring out the worst when you're not feeling the best..... Plus that little devil on my shoulder keeps whispering thingslike "this bow is not the one", "get a new one", etc, etc [8D]

It's just very frustrating knowing I have two 3-D shoots this weekend and my confidence is shaken.... Hopefully I can have great week of shooting and be ready to roll this weekend...

What I see here is number 1....this....It's just very frustrating knowing I have two 3-D shoots this weekend and my confidence is shaken.... It sounds like you are putting the pressure on your self....Not like I haven't done that...ah hem.......all the time, but you also mentioned you are over bowed. Combine these two things and you are beating youself up. Slow down and take a breath........yes........3D shoots are important, but your form and comfortabilty is that much more important. You will get adjusted to the weight.......maybe you just tried "rushing" (if you will), yourself a little to fast. NEVER disclude form and comfort over a 3D shoot or a hunt. First and formost are those two things. Example....I would never gop and attempt to hunt.........say......Grizzly, if I was not confident or comfortable with the weight of the bow that was needed to bring an animal of this size down. I really don't want to be the next meal if the bruin........if you know what I mean.

I reckon all of us just have those days. I had one this past weekend, unfortunately it was at the GA state championship. For some reason, I just couldn't get in the zone. I shot 78% on a course that I should have shot 85% on. The next day, even after hanging my jacket on the first 5 (out of 20) shots (then throwing my jacket on the trail and leaving it), I pulled it up to 81% in a light rain. Still wasn't dead on, but much better than the day before.

Don't let it bug you. When you are having a really off day, try laying your bow down for an hour or two. If it's still bad, leave it alone for a day or two. Works for me.
