TWO GREAT HUNTERS
In my opinion, these two menshould be listed amongthe greatest hunters that ever lived.
JACK O'CONNOR FRED BEAR Sometimes when I see their photos or read their stories I get chills up my spine and even get a little teary eyed. What do you guys think about these 2 men? |
RE: TWO GREAT HUNTERS
Fred absolutely, Jack, naw never did nothing for me. He was your typical modern outdoor writer. Weaved this big story about killing animals. It was entertaining, but didn't shake my world of hunting.

RE: TWO GREAT HUNTERS
Yeah, I guess you are right bigcountry. Not only did Jack succesfully hunt all species of North American big game, but he completed a DOUBLE grand slam on sheep (rocky mountain bighorn, desert bighorn, dall and stone sheep) Plus went on many safaris to Africa and tiger hunts in India. (That sounds like a pretty typical guy to me)
I wouldn't mind being wovenin his little web of hunting experiences.;) |
RE: TWO GREAT HUNTERS
So has several gunwriters. Some has done alot of that with blackpowders only. Its amazing what corporate funding can do for ya. I respect a guy more who has went on his own dime, and done it his own way. Hey you wanted opinions.

RE: TWO GREAT HUNTERS
Howard Hill also deserves to be up on top......

RE: TWO GREAT HUNTERS
Alex, indeed Teddy Roosevelt was quite the sportsman too. Just look at the number of game that he killed. He is up at the top.

RE: TWO GREAT HUNTERS
I think I'll give the awards to the warriors who killed the lion with a spear!
|
RE: TWO GREAT HUNTERS
How about a leopard with a longbow ?

RE: TWO GREAT HUNTERS
I wonder if this guy should be added?
andnot to mention the sons? It would definately be interesting to know what some hunters (that I know personally)could have accomplished with corporate funding. |
