Alex,

I've got about a dozen I cut last summer and have been letting dry.... They are various sizes, but let me go get them and see what the average size is....

Isn't cane tapered it's entirelength?

So how do you guys make these? Do you cut down a straight limb and cut to the heart? Could you use a wood lathe? Or could you take a log and use different growth rings, in other word, different cross grain for each one.

Basically yes.. But you can get sections that are fairly uniform in size.

Sounds almost impossible to get spines right.

Yea but, they can really fly fast and high impact ,more than wood cedar and the like, i use them on big game only,wildbar and bison and hope in September to get me some african game with them.
