USING YEW TO MAKE LONGBOWS?

I was wondering if a longbow was the only bow that you could make using yew wood? Is there anyplace were I can get instructions on how to make my own long bow or recurves. This summer i picked up about 50 pieces of nice yew wood. They are all around 6 foot tall, straight and vary in thicknesses. I have thicker pieces and was wondering if I could use them too.
