? About a Longbow

Someone gave me a longbow. It is a Howatt Monterey 44#@28. It was made in Yakima, Washington. The guy who gave it to me said he only used it a few times about 30 years ago. It's been in his basement all this time and he did have it in a bow sock. The Bow is in great shape without a scratch on it. It has 3 different woods and is a nice looking bow. Do any of you guy's know anything about this kind of Longbow. Do you think it's allright to shoot???? If so I can't wait to shoot it.

Thanks
Hatchet Jack

It should be perfectly fine to shoot. My grandpa's longbow that I have is over 40 years old and it shoots fine.

Does it look like this ?

The Howatt Monterey is not a longbow but a recurve, as long as there are no cracks or warps on the limbs it would be safe to shoot, you might want to get a new string though.

Sorry, why I said longbow and not recurve is a mystery to me. I gess I cooked to many cells in the 70s,80, and early 90s
