broadheads

I bought a pack of muzzy 125 3 blade and am not really impressed. I then went out and bought what i think are magnus 11 two blade 100 grain. I'm having alittle bit of trouble putting a really sharp edge on these, would the recommented accusharp be the way to go. I've switched from the eskimo 2 blade. I shoot an old compound with an arrow weight of about 600 to 650. I havn't really measured lately. The bow is slow, so i bought the 2 blade making sure i can get full penetration. Has anyone shot deer with a 2 blade before. It's said they don't leave a good blood trail. I'm also lookin at buying the magnus 4 blade version with the replable bleeder blades, and using the 2 blade version for turkeys. any info will help.

You can get them fairly sharp with the accusharp however, I prefer an s-24 file stone and strop. For deer sized animals I prefer using a bleeder balde for a bit better blood trails. Right now I am using Magnus stinger, but may switch to muzzy phantom this coming year.

I killed two deer with Magnus 2-Blades, and the first, a double lunged doe gave an amazing blood trail, I mean, blood-sprayed two feet off the trail (Im assuming I hit an artery) and nearly non-stop blood. The next wasa spike. I shot him quartering away and only got gut-liver-lung, so the blood trail was non-existant 'cept for a puddle and a few specks...So, both good and bad...the bleeder blades couldnt hurt though...

I'd go with the bleeder blades for deer.
Just my two cents...

Good luck!

BTW- The spike was a clean pass-thru,from the last rib, tojust behind the shoulderwith "only"a 48# Zipper Recurve, and 425 grain GoldTips, so penetration shoudnt be too much of an issue, particularly with 600 grain arrows.

I got 'em shavin hair with the Accusharp. (The one that went thru the spike still shaves...)

They won't give a good blood trail if you hit the wrong spot, otherwise they kill and bleed like anyother blade.
