Limbsavers hurt the finish on my Chek-Mate?
I'd like to try these things on my Raven. Has anyone had any problems with them messing up or pulling the finish on their bows? I'm using cat whiskers now and love the performance of the bow. If you could suggest anything to help quiet it down that, would be wonderful too. The bow is set at 8.5 inches brace height which seems to be working well. Thanks.

I can't guarantee it, but I don't think they would hurt the finish. One thing you might try, if you haven't already, is tinkering with the position of your silencers. Even an inch up or down can make a big difference, especially on a short bow.

FYI - I applied and tested the limbsavers today. Although they aren't at all purty, they have made a noticable improvement in dampening the resonance of my limbs and lowered the "frequency" of my shot to a dull thud. I can live with them for hunting season, after that they're coming off.

If you're worried about the looks of of the limb savers or afraid to harm the finish in any way, try the instructions at the Big Horn website above. I was having problems with noise on my Chek Mate Falcon. What really helped was wrapping yarn around the ends of the string that contact the limb tips. With beaver fur silencers and the yarn, it has become VERY quiet. |
