Really dumb question?
Ok everyone don't laugh at me. I am new to the bow hunting world.
What is the difference between a recurve and a longbow? I thought they were the same thing but I see here in this forum that they are talked about seperately. |

recurve:
http://www.martinarchery.com/layout/images/zoom/dreamcatcher.jpg longbow: http://www.martinarchery.com/layout/images/zoom/savannah.jpg That is what each looks like, I myself am fairly new to traditional so don't quote me on anything but I was told that recurves are easier to learn on, but that could be heresay also I have heard that a recurve will have more of a shelf. this is what I have heard personally I started with a recurve and I love it. plus I like the way they look better. But thats all personal preference try them both see what you like and hopefully someone with better knowledge of this sport will help you out. |
RE: Really dumb question?
Thanks for your feedback Snowman.I get the jist of it.

RE: Really dumb question?
Also, a recurve's limbs are so "recurved" that the string touches the limbs while braced or strung..... A longbow's string will not touch the limbs, just the tips......
