RE: sights?

If that's what works for you, go for it. I never have used sights on a trad bow--honestly (and don't take this as a slam--its' not) one of the reasons I went to trad bow was to get away from sights, stabilizers, release aids, etc. The reason being Murphy's Law works overtime with me, and the less I have on my bow, the less chance I have of something breaking, moving, getting loose, rattling, etc. I was only using one pin on my compound when I last shot one, but there was too much other stuff to worry with.

Sights on recurves was a common thing several years ago, and seems to be making a bit of a comeback. Don't let anyone dictate what is "traditional" to you--you aren't shooting for their pleasure. The only thing is you may not be allowed to use sights if you shoot in a tournament.

Good luck!

RE: sights?

if you like the recurve design and shooting characteristics there are several recurvemodels out there (cabelas) that are designed to take sights. i personally don't use sights, but then again i keep my shots to under 30 yards. i do however practice with a trigger release due to the fact I'm able to hold my bow at full draw much longer. my hands aren't the strongest and I'm not interested in getting a lighter bow right now.

I think sites on a recuve are cool. When I was little, about 6 I had a recurve with sites. I would love to get a nice short bow with a site on it. I dont think I wouldhunt with it butthey justbring back alot of memories.

I agree with LBR 100%, anything that can go wrong will go wrong and it has. :(
