Hardest part of archery?
I would have to say consistancy in all aspects of shooting, and knowing when to say enough and put the bow down for a while. What do you guys think.

RE: Hardest part of archery?
Definitly getting enough money scratched up to get everything you "want" (not need). Time is an issue with me too, but the darker it gets the more I'm finding....

Not losing it at the moment of truth.......

RE: Hardest part of archery?
Concentration is it for me. Used to be no problem for me to zoom in on the exact spot I wanted to hit. I could visualize shooting my arrow through a tube, straight to that exactspot. Somewhere along the line, I've lost the ability to crank up my focus to that level.

RE: Hardest part of archery?
For me, it's patience--which really covers a lot of different things. Patience in finding the right bow. Patience in getting the bow tuned correctly. Patience in getting the right arrow. Patience in taking the time for the shot. Patience in waiting on the perfect shot (hunting). Patience in waiting for a new bow. And on and on and on.............

RE: Hardest part of archery?
Let me put my answer into perspective.........
I've been practicing almost daily since April........ I get very comfortable out to 20 yds..... I can really smoke them at 10yds....... Can hit a baseball everytime........ So........ The first doe that meanders into range...... I blow a 10yd shot and completely miss.........:D...... Looking back, I rushed the shot, stared at the arrow the hole time and absolutely did not pick a spot...... Adrenaline can really screw a fellow up:D |
RE: Hardest part of archery?
The mental aspect is the hardest for me. I've always thought that good archery could be easy if a guy couldkeep his head screwed on straight;maintain relaxed concentration& not make stupid mistakes in form.
...I'm not sure I'll ever know if my theory is right or not! Hehehe. |
RE: Hardest part of archery?
Consistency, consistency, consistency. With focus a very close second.

RE: Hardest part of archery?
Finding the time to shoot as much as I want.

RE: Hardest part of archery?
Another thing that I'm finding hard to do, which might help account for my problem with concentration... Listening to your body and letting it tell you it can't handle that draw weight.
Last time I ordered a bow, I KNEW I needed to drop down to 40-45 pounds. I KNEW IT. I weighed all the pros and cons and 40-45 pounds wasthe most logical choice, legal to hunt with - at least here it is -and a lot easier on my arthritis. What did I do? Naturally, I let testosterone be my guide and wound up with a 52 pounder. So, I go shoot and I know my bum shoulder is gonna hurt but I shoot anyway. Then my shoulder aches for three days afterward. I got to thinking about this while driving home from the range last night... with my shoulder aching and throbbing.... [&:] |
