Have any of you guys experienced any upper arm pains from shooting. For around 2 weeks now my left arm (I am right handed) has been realy been giving me truble. The painsrun the length of my upper arm from the sholder toa few inches above my elbo.It dosnt hurt all the time just when I use the mucscle on the out side, it dosnt hurt at all when I shoot. I have been icingthe past few day, will see if that helps. I am not shooting any more then I was all summer. I figure the only thing it can be from is shooting.

Any advice would be great and save me some money [X(]

Second? dose anyone have any good archrey related exercises that they do. I have to develop an execise plan for one of my classes.

Once again thanks for any info.

I really don't know why your arm is hurting that high up. Maybe your stance is a little off and you're pulling the bow over to line up on the target instead of being in natural alignment? Maybe you should check with the doc.

A few exercises... with weights: Upright rows, lat pulls, reverse butterflies; using body weight: pushups, pullups, crunches, shoulder rolls, windmills. Swimming. The basic crawl stroke and the breast stroke are good exercises to strengthen your shoulder muscles.

I changed bows went allmost 2 times as heavy. When on a hunt I held my bow up for 30 mins or so high out ready to draw. The deer never gaveme a good shoot but the dang this shure made my arm hurt.

I dont get much EX but I do pack kids around a lot.

One thing I can say when target shooting pack your bow the hole time. This will get your arm useto caring the bow all day. Most guys shoot there bow than lay it down go get there arrows and reshoot.Every one of them cusses on how much there arm hurts after an all day hunt.

First off, I'm no doctor. I don't know anything except what I've experienced. If pain persists I'd see a doc.

However, I tend to overdo myself a lot. I have a perverse pleasure in repetitive type sportsand a tendency to develop tendinitis.
I've had it all over (never in my upper arm), but elbows, wrists, hamstrings, knees. Sounds like you have a mild case of it to me.
Ice and an anti-inflammatory are the key. You might want to back off a bit of whatever is hurting it. I have trouble with hamstrings a lot because of cycling, and I don't feel it when I'm riding. However, afterward the pain hits and out comes the ice and ibuprofen.

On top of the exercises AP mentioned above add some stretches in there. Do it daily and don't overdo it at first and it helps keeps everything loosened up a bit.

You guys are fast. AP I think my form has changed alittle, but I thought it was for the better.

Elk, The only time I put my bow down is when I cant get the arrow out of the target with 1 hand.

C nOKC I get alittle tendinitis every spring when I start fishing hard again, man that is painfull. I also have had it in my legs from biking, same thing only hurts when I get off.

I think I will just take it easy for a whilewith the shooting, I am shooting great and I dont need much practice to get me threw the season. 3 or 4 shoots a day instead of 100 :(
