weight of points / broadheads
 

In the process of getting my first recurve and was wondering what weigth points most guys were using for hunting? I'm starting out with a 50# PSE impala with about a 30inch draw (going to start off with aluminum arrows)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (would like to practice with hunting heads as much as possible )

I think the spine charts for aluminum are based on using a 125 grain point.

Stick to the charts (or get input from the aluminum slingers here) and you have a wide range of heads available to you.

I'd say that if you want to practice with broadheads as much as possible, I'd say to get some heads that you will be able to sharpen easily. Personally, I am using 150 grain Magnus Stingers, but have also used regular magnus, zwickey,andstosin the past.

Aluminum arrows would likely be a good choice. A good starting point would be 2016's with a 125 or 150 grain head such as a Magnus Stinger. Byron Ferguson has some pretty relevant info regarding set-up and tuning in his book "Become the Arrow". It's written with the longbow in mind but also pertains to a recurve.
