New Arrows and Broadheads
 

I finshed up a new set of arrows, barrelled laminated birch with light green crown, dark green and white crest, and chartreuse feathers with white cock feather and Fl Green nock, by gluing on the Simmons Land Shark broadheads I have been waiting to use on these arrows. Makes for one wicked looking combination.

If the broadheads shoot anything like the arrows did with field points on Saturday, it is going to make for some serious bloodletting when it strikes home! The 1-9/16" cut is going to be impressive if it will fly well. I suspect it will with the big feathers I have on the backend for control.

I cut my bow hand with one of them on my first shot Saturday. I quickly learned to adjust and make allowance for the feathers!!

The laminated birch is a good bit heavier than cedar, but seems to fly to the same point of impact out to 20 yards. I'm ready to go to the Archery Shop and shoot them and see how they fly!!

Hey Bill, they sound beautiful. Can you post a pic of them. Not that I can tell the difference between yellow and chartruse, but am interested in seeing those broadheads attached to them. <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Bill, on the feathers, try using an exacto knife, utility knife, etc and slant the front of the quill, then apply a drop of glue. This does the trick for me.

Hi Bill. I use a field point tipped arrow & roll the field point back & forth into just the leading edge (point) of the quill of another arrow. Press very firmly as you roll & soon you'll completely flatten the quill, leaving no discernable &quot;edge&quot; between the quill point & the shaft. Treating all your fletchings this way will hopefully help keep you from getting cut & may also enhance quill clearance across the shelf. Hope it helps.

I shot with the Land Sharks installed this evening. I shot my first shot at 20 yards. It hit about 2 feet above my point of aim! Sooooooooo, I moved in to a 10 yards and hit dead on. I moved out to 15 and hit head on. But at 20 yards it was hitting high.

I turned the cock feather in towards the bow, and now it is hitting &quot;near&quot; where I'm aiming at 20 yards. I hit about 2&quot; from the center of the bullseye at which I was shooting.

I went home, sharpened up five Land Sharks and I'm going to the woods tomorrow afternoon to see if I can't sink one into a deer!!

I have taken the pictures, but I can't get them downloaded off my camera. I finally found out searching the HP webpage that the camera functions only on the serial port for XP, not on the USB port to which I have it plugged in. I'll try to get a cable in the morning and see if I can't post a link to the pictures.
