Just got new bow!!!!

I just got a Ben Pearson Bow the other day. It is a 40# @ 28". I have a set of GameGetter 2's with 100grn. target points, 3 fletch vanes. Before I go and try to hit my hay bale.... Should I put a rest on it? It has a "rug" plate and shelf that I could shot off of, but I am a tad worried about fletch clearence. If I do put a rest on it , will an older style "Flipper Rest"be ok? Also, how far above the shelf should I place the rest? as far as distance to the bale....Should I start off at say 10 yrds? I plan on shooting instictivly and wont be using it for game till atleast next season. Thank you in advance for all the help.

If you shoot off the shelf with vanes, then your knock point will have to be raised way up. Yes a flipper type rest will work, and it should fix the clearance problem if you wish to shoot with vanes only and not feathers.

RE: Just got new bow!!!!

Thank you for the info. Any idea how far off the shelf I should set the rest? Shot off the shelf yesterday a few times and talk about fletch contact!!! I got to get the rest put on, after it comes in. I think I will be OK after I put the rest on it....I hope, LOL. I was at approxamatly 10 yards and hit the bale, consistantly, but it was a bit of a mess as far as grouping. I ordered a new set of Easton Fall Stalker 2117's with the rest. I'll let you all know how it goes. How long should I stay at the 10 yard mark before moving to the 20? The 30?
