I have new respect for you guys.
I just always thought you guys were cool, but now I think you are cool and I have much respect for your sport. I have shot a compound for 11 years. I am pretty good. I shoot 70 pounds with 60 percent let off. I got out my old 42 pound recurve last night and strung it up and played with it. It appears that I have about a 29.25 inch draw (measured from the front of the shelf to the back of the string). Let me tell you. That felt much heavier than my 70 pound bow. I guess it is a different set of muscles and holding all the weight. WOW!! So give yourselves a pat on the back from me. I am planning on taking my first deer with the compound, then trying to stalk a second with the recurve. That will guarantee meat in the freezer.

Sure is a different set of muscles. And after you get used and exclusively shoot the 42 pound recurve the 70 pound compound is gonna be"weird" to pull back.

It is a different set of muscles, but you'll get them built up quick with practice. My 10 year old son can pull my 60@28 longbow back to his ear and hold it. He is a big kid, but the main thing is he's been shooting since he was two. I figure he's pulling around 45-50# with it. He can't shoot it, but he loves to show off pulling it.
