How Early do you have to build a tree stand

My friend said you have to build a tree stand a month early so the deer get used to it is that true or not.

RE: How Early do you have to build a tree stand

Pete, I assume you are talking about building a "permenent" one, out of wood, nails, or whatever?? First off, on public land, this practice is illegal. On private land, with permission, it's OK except for the safety factor. Unless done correctly, they can be dangerous and in just a few months, boards loosen, nails rust, making them more unsafe.

As for your question....You best chance of killing a big buck, is the first time you hunt a spot. Seldom do deer spot a hunter in a stand let alone the stand itself. As long as it's well placed and high enough, I don't think you'd have a problem.....O.L.
