firebird quiver
 

Sometime next week I will be the proud new owner of a checkmate firebird. What is a good bow quiver for this bow? Will the Selway, Great Northern, etc..that are made for a black widow that go under the limb bolts fit this bow? I don't want a slide on quiver. Thanks.

Tough one there--the short riser may make a bow quiver aggravating. A limb bolt quiver may require longer limbbolts. I haven't found a bow quiver I like yet, so I'm no help.

Hows about a good hip, or back quiver or something else? My only concern is that it stays out of the way of my treestand, which will be on my back.

I have been using a hip quiver the last few years. When I take a treestand, I strap it to the stand when I'm going in, and to the tree when I get up it. Thinking about going back to my homemade "GFA" quiver--made one years ago, actually stuck it somewhere and forgot about it until I read the article on it a while back. Those are simple--take a cheap Kwikee Kwiver and modify it a bit.

I keep trying to like them, but bow quivers have always been (for me) something else to get in the way and make noise. They also throw the bow off balance for me.

Thanks Chad, I have a couple of Kwikee Kwivers laying around from my compound days. I'll try to make something out of them.

I just bought a firebird on e-bay. 57# @ 28" and I am very pleased with this bow. I have a chek-mate 56" on which I have been using a thunderhorn boa quiver. It seems to work quite well, actually better on the firebird, (less fade-out) than on the hunter. I like the extra weight although the firebird is a heavier bow than the 56".
