i can do this!!!!!

wow am i pleased!

i have toyed with the idea of going traditional for a while now, but target panic/snap shooting was killing me. with my compound, i could hold off target all day, couldnt hardly move that pin. with my recurve, if i was just in my house i could hold it , at the target it just went. sucked. anyway, i switched to a mechanical release with my compound, problem solved. i have no idea why it worked, but im done with target panic and more accurate than ive ever been.

previously (year or so ago) i posted on here about my problem, and one thing a guy said was get a lighter pound bow, i was shooting 65 lbs. plus, it was a bear kodiak magnum, really short. last fall i tried a buddies 57 lb palmer custom, 60 inches long. i could hold it all day, felt like 40 lbs compared to that kodiak magnum. figured that may just be part of the problem. i traded for a bear grizzly at 60 lbs, but it is 58 inches long. problem solved, i can comfortably hold it like my compound! so ive been experimenting, and found that if i draw off the target (for me i always draw just over with my compound, no idea why i just naturally draw there) , pick a spot on the target, and move my bow arm according ly, then steady it i can do this! i am conisstantly hitting a pie plate at 20-25 yards right now!

not saying im going strictly traditional yet, ive got more work to do, but im working on it!.

Sounds great, keep up the good work. Most of this sport is in your head.

I hate calling it a sport [:'(], makes me think of things like golf.

Sounds like you are moving right along! Keep with it!

pick a spot on the target, and move my bow arm accordingly,
Just a tip, (and this is especially if you find that you are moving your bow arm a lot)you may want to try to keep the upper body alignment as consistant as possible. If you find that you need to move your bow arm left/right, then adjust your stance accordingly. If you need to adjust up/down, make your adjustment by bending at the waist. Try to keep your shoulders, arms (at full draw), and arrow all parrellel and pointed at the target.
