String and Arrows

Just found an older recurve w/ 45# draw. I'd like to set it up to hunt geese. I need a new string and arrows. What brand do you recommend, and do i just get one the same length? Also, what brand of arrows, im guessing cedar, w/ the larger fletchings to use to shoot birds... Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

RE: String and Arrows

what kind? ( bear??? ) not knowing what make of bow and how old it is I would guess B-50 string and I would go with flu-flu arrows ( cedar, alum, carbon ) as long as they are matched to your bow. Others on here will and can give you more help then I can.
Good luck with the bow...

RE: String and Arrows

When in doubt, always use B-50 dacron strings. Many an old recurve has met it's doom when someone stuck a fastflight string on it. Fastflight can shear the tips right off a bow that's not designed for it or the loop can zip it's way down the limb like a saw, cutting the limb into 3 pieces.
