till my hunting partner & I head out for a long awaited tundra bowhunt for the majestic Quebec/Labrador Caribou!! We're hunting w/Jack Hume Adventures from Sept 9th thru 15th & will be taking both bow types (a recurve AND a longbow LOL!).Just one nice bull would be a real blessing, but Good Lord willing I'd love to take a nice bull with each - that'd be AWESOME!! I've waited on this a looooong time (20+ yrs) & now it's reallyhappening - man I'm PUMPED!!!

I seen a local outdoor show and they were with that outfitter. They had alot of sucessful hunts with bows and guns. Good luck. P.S We'll be expecting pics of the trip when you get back.

Wow, I'm excited for ya! A friend of mine went up there (don't know which outfitter) last year with a muzleloader and everyone took carribou after they loacated the heard, there were a few fellows that used longbows who were also sucessful.

I wish ya the best of luck. You are a lucky man. Vary nice bows and great paint jop on them arrows. How much practice dose it take to switch long to recurve. I started shooting a recurve, but now that I shoot my long bow I cant hit anything with the curve.

Excited Chad...does it show? Man I've never been so pumped up about a hunt in my life!

Guss, I've hadthe same sortatrouble before, but I have both of these rigs tweeked to shooting purty dang close to the same. Even so, I've found that switching from longbow to recurve is easier than vise versa for me, so I just shoot my longbow more.;)

Don't worry guys, if we have a successful hunt you'll be getting sick of caribou pictures!! Hehehe. ;):D:)

I know the feeling, believe me! I haven't made it official yet, but I'm about to get an ulcer thinking about that water buffalo in Oz! My bow should be here soon, got some test shafts waiting on it, and recently found out about a new broadhead that should be on the market by then (real heavy, and heavy-duty). The only thing that's holding me up right now is the price of the hunt [:@]. Oh well....it's going to take me a little while to work back up to an 85# bow. Got kinda whimpy in my old age....I did draw the 98 @ 28 a few times yesterday for some guys that came over--man alive that thing is stiff! Don't think I got it past 29", but I got plenty of motivation for the 85#-er!

BTW, if anyone wants to donate to my hunt fund, just let me know![8D]

Shoot--if I were rich I'd be the most worthless sonofagun that ever walked God's green earth! The good part is nobody would ever see much of me--I'd be somewhere chasing a critter!

I could do a pretty decent hunt in Africa for what this one buffalo is going to cost me. Actually Africa used to be my dream hunt, but after talking with folks that have been there, and reading about several others, Igot turned off. It's just not my idea of a hunt. Now if someone were to offer it to me free (or real cheap), I'd go--I won't lie about that--but for a once-in-a-lifetime hunt (I'll never be able to put this kind of coin into a hunt again), it's got to be THE hunt. I'd love to have a bunch of exotic mounts and capes, but I reckon I'll have to be satisfied with one great big set of horns.;) Reckon how many back quivers a feller could get out of a buffalo hide?:)

I pulled a 85 pound Howard Hill back a couple of weeks ago and it actually felt really good, but i think i will stick to my 60 pound custom longbow....SHE'S GOT PLENTY OF PUNCH....

Arrowsmit, them are nice looking arrows, curious what type of wood?, how much total grains w/broadhead?,andwhat broad heads you plan on using?, if you don't mind sharing your personal preference amongst us.....Take Care and Good Luck on your upcoming ADVENTURE...

Yepper Kip, I'm gettin' a might excited, & yepper I've packed my duffle 3 times so far & still 1 1/2# over the 65# wt limit.[:@]Good thing is thatmy hunting partnerwill have more than enuff room for a couple of my things since he isn't taking a frame pack. We decided toshare mine.

Thanks Robin, I'm real happy w/the way the arrows came out. They're tapered compressed cedar w/purpleheart foots & w/a 125 gr brd-hd should weigh in around 650gr total. My Adcock longbow shoots them very quick & flat so it should make a decent 'bou rig.

We'll be heading out 4 weeks from tomorrow!!!!;)

Vic has by now checked the weather 4126 times, unpacked, and repacked his duffle 724 times, has trouble sleeping at night due to the replay of the perfect hunt going through his head as he tries to fall asleep at night. His job performance is severely lacking, and his wife wishes he was on the next plane to Canada. Am I close Vic? I think Im as excited about you going on your dream hunt as you are. Are you down to counting days/hours/minutes/seconds yet? ;)

Hehehe Kip, you're not too far off w/your assessment of my anxious condition.:D...and yepper, I have 2 weeks, 3 days,15 hours, 14 minutes, & 23 secondstill we leave out for the long drive from SW Kentucky to Montreal, Quebec. [:-]Then comes a VNQ (commercial) flight to Shefferville & an overnite there, then out to the tundra on a JHA bush plane early the next morning. Three weeks from today we'll be hunting caribou!!! :);)[&:]

BTW; my hunting partner (Raymond Durham, aka: Dances With Pigs) is taking his Horne 3 pc w/him on this hunt. Heis takingboth his recurve & longbow limbs for it &shoots both equally well. Man he really loves that bow.
