RE: uhhhhhhh
As an alternative, you may want to attend a traditional shot or visit an archery shop which has traditional equipment. I'd suggest talking with some experienced traditional sales people to get you set up.

RE: uhhhhhhh
There are a great many satisfied customers on the traditional forums that can vouch for the integrity of ChekMate and the quality of their products, and I am one of them. If your parents are simply worried about ordering over the internet, you can print off the order form and mail it in. It'd just take a few days longer to get there.
There are very few archery shops that carry traditional bows. If you're not lucky enough to have a traditional store or can't find an all-traditional shoot in your neck of the woods then, if you're wanting a recurve or longbow, I'm afraid mail order is about your only hope. There is also the option of going primitive and making your own selfbows and arrows. It's 'best' to make bows from staves, but I've made many a bow from red oak boards. A new bow is no further away than the nearest Lowes or Home Depot. Here are a couple of websites that tell you everything you need to know about making bows from boards, and a great many other things besides. http://mysite.verizon.net/georgeandjoni/archer.html http://groups.msn.com/ferretsarcherywebpage |
RE: uhhhhhhh
yeah they just dont like the idea of the get the money first and there are two people who live 15 miles away one does custom bows the lowest sells for 600 and the other one is in the same town and he has one that is 350 a little out of my price range and i thought it was a little odd that viper deluxe was like 179 a month ago now it is like 200 at FS oh well just my luck i guess

RE: uhhhhhhh
That's why I suggested learining how to make your own bow out of a board. $10 and a little elbow grease vs spending $200 and up... Honestly, my best board bow only shoots about 10 fps slower than my best store bought bow, using the same arrow at the same draw weight.

RE: uhhhhhhh
I have tried to make many bows the only success was only about 10lbs and my parents dont want me throwing away money on a board just so i can break it and i dont have any trees around my farm that will work come to think of it i have already been to both those sites many times the ferret does some amazing things with wood

RE: uhhhhhhh
Sounds like you have some tough parents.[:@]

RE: uhhhhhhh
Ask 'em if they'd rather you spend money on bows and stuff or go spend it on tatoos and nose rings. [8D]

RE: uhhhhhhh
Sorry to hear that Matt. Not many businesses will send you a product before they get paid--they have a lot to loose if several folks decided not to pay. It's a devil to do anything about it when you get ripped off too (been there, done that). On theother hand, the bussiness owner has a lot to loose by treating a customer dirty--our businnesses can be built up or broken down on our reputations--one bad review will generally get more attention than 50 good ones--so it's in our best interests to treat every customer right.
Good luck with your search! Chad |
RE: uhhhhhhh
You do not have to send all the money , just 50% deposit.

RE:success
I told her that there isn't any traditional bows in stores really because they are all compound then she said some stuff about how she told this guy who is a good compound shooter and he said he started that way and he would never go back and he said that they arent fast enough to kill deer with so i told my mom about shot placement and all that then she was worried about it breaking then not being able to return it so i told her they have a warranty and she said if i let you get this this will be the last bow you will ever get and even though it is my first i hope i made a good decision with the viper. oh yeah by the way i am ordering a viper 55lbs RH and fall stalker 2018 arrows with 5in feathers and 29in long and inserts already glued in so i will be all set

RE: RE:success
Matt, I think 55 pounds might be a bit much for your first bow. Don't get something that you have to struggle with.
|
RE: RE:success
a little much i can pull back my brothers 80lb compound with 25%let off and the last time i pulled back a trad bow was last year and that was al 60lber and i shot that 20 shots but the guy wouldnt let me shoot anymore and i wasn't even tired or anything and i weight lift everyday at school with the new stuff they got and during the summer i do at home

RE: uhhhhhhh
I know of three places that have store fronts. But I don't know where you live.
One in Connecticut and the other is in Massachusetts. http://www.oldbow.com/ http://www.hallsarrow.com/ or in Lancaster, PA http://www.lancasterarchery.com/shop/index.php You may want to see if there's a Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's store near you (or within driving distance) |
