storing longbow

If I shoot daily, is it more stressful on the bow to leave it strung or to string it everyday? I don't mind stringing it everyday (it only takes seconds), I just want to know which method is the best for integrity of the bow. Thanks.

Modern long bows (with glass backing) can be left for a few days strung, but I never do. There are pros and cons to both. Stringing your bow can damage if done inproperly, and by doing it every day you greaten the chance of that. Leaving it strung can also damage the bow if not stored right. I can string my bow with little problem so I just unstring and string it every day.

I have a recurve that seldom gets shot (my bowfishing bow) and seldom gets unstrung. I've had it at least 5 or 6 years, it's doing fine--it's been strung up a lot more that it's been unstrung this past year--honestly don't remember if it's even been unstrung this past year. I unstring my longbow when I want to put it in a sock to travel--been shooting it for ten or twelve years, it's still going strong. I don't think it will make a difference as long as you store it properly. I can think of one negative to leaving it strung--if your string were to break, that wouldn't be good.

I bought a modern recurve from a guy that had it for over 6 years, and it was never unstrugtill I got it, it still measured 56 pound and shot great. But for myself, I unstring every time.

I unstring it after every day I shoot it ( well about a hour or so after ) I have a stringer so it's no big deal to string it.

So do I Bob, at least w/my ACS. But then OL recommends it. Some others do too, but lots of bowyers don't recommend unstringing if it's being used regularly. Anyhow, I figure nobody knows a particular bow better'n the guy who made it so I always try & follow the builders advice.;)
