RE: LONG BOW

A lot will depend on how much you are willing to spend. I think for money and value, a lot of people would suggest the Viper or Viper Deluxe by Internature. The viper is $165 at FS Archery. Let us know what you decide on and how he likes it.

Aim, Martin and Chek-Mate all make very nice longbows. My current a Martin Savvanah cost anywere from 300 to 400.00.

I would suggest trying to find out if there are any big traditional shoots in your area. If so, you sometimes try out many different bows, anywhere from $100-$1,000.

RE: LONG BOW

The best advice I could give is get your son to a shoot and let him try out a few different bows. Longbows can vary a LOT in design, and what one person loves another may hate. I love longbows, and shoot one 99% of the time (the only exception is when I go bowfishing), but there are some that I just don't like. Lots of great ones on the market, and although it seems a good longbow will cost you more than a good recurve (you can generally pick up a good older recurve pretty cheap), if you look around you can find a deal on one.

Good luck!

Chad
